Stephen Tomar Furniture, Co. was started in the beginning of the 21st Century with his partner Stuart Lampert, because of a need for well-designed, well-made modern and contemporary furnishings that were scaled to luxury residences. As an interior designer, Stephen Tomar found it very difficult to find furniture for his clients that answered the needs of scale, creativity and functionality utilizing natural woods, metals and glass. Most other furniture produced for the design trade have been geared to a price point that left the comfort and function out of the finished equation. Tomar’s clients’ required that not only was the style and beauty met, but that function was equally as important. At first, the furniture was designed for Tomar’s own clients’ and then, at the request of other designers, furniture was sold to them for their clients’ needs, which led to the formation of Stephen Tomar Furniture. Tomar continually edits the line and adds pieces to fit the lifestyle of the luxury client as the line is available primarily through designers and architects. All pieces are manufactured to order in the United States; special considerations and requirements can be incorporated as requested by the client or designer. The line primarily uses oak, walnut, ribbon mahogany, alder and maple available in finishes ranging from satin to luxurious high polish.
